First, I'd like to thank Kossack
'treeline' for
bringing to our attention an
utterly despicable Op-Ed in the Salt Lake Tribune by a local brownshirt there named Paul Mero.
In the sea of right-wing bile spewed since Katrina, Mero's stands out. Moreso, by my way of thinking, than the snake-oil salesmen er right-wing preachers blaming Katrina on God's wrath, whom I excuse since were I to believe in God I might have to believe He did conjure up Katrina. Mero blames Katrina's aftermath on a government dependency culture.
Utah is a curious place, one I will never give up hope in. Salt Lake City is a wonderful "Blue Island" with an oft-decent newspaper, the Salt Lake Tribune. Today, the same paper that ran Mero's garbage saw fit to permit readers to blast Mero and the paper's editorial judgment, in quite a "mea culpa."
