In my opinion, Washington Post columnist David Broder is our nation's most preeminent Neocon hack retaining some form of moderate credential (I don't find Thomas Friedman anything near a centrist). Yesterday,
in a column where he tries to focus blame on Katrina for an upcoming $500 billion federal budget deficit meltdown, Broder works in the following zinger at the end:
"At a private dinner the other evening where many of the men and women who have steered economic and fiscal policy during the past two decades were expressing their alarm about this situation, one speaker summarized the feelings of the group: 'I think it's 1925," he said, "and we're headed for 1929.'"
Today, we may see further proof of this.
